The Cherokee Nation allocates 38% of its annual car tag revenue directly to area school districts within its 14-county reservation. That's 107 school districts sharing in nearly $8 million. We understand the Cherokee Nation does not have to do this. There is no Oklahoma law that says tribal nations must contribute to education.
