Mr Squiggle and Rocket will be on show at the National Museum of Australia in Canberra from 29 April to 16 May 2024. Hetherington’s puppets Nicky and Noodle appeared on the opening night of ABC TV on 5 November 1956. He went on to create Mr Squiiggle and Friends, which ran for 40 years with its final episode on 9 July 1999, during which time he completed more than 10,000 drawings.
