Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili said, “It is symbolic that on the birthday of Zviad Gamsakhurdia [Georgia’s first president], on March 31, 1991, the Georgian people voted for the independence of Georgia. he noted that Zviadas’ life and work “symbolise the restoration of Georgia’s independence, as well as the effort and sacrifice required to achieve this great aim”
