The G7 group of wealthy, developed economies agreed to phase out coal-fired power by 2035. The move could further cement U.S. efforts to put an end to the most polluting form of energy. Most of the G7 nations — Canada, France, Germany, Japan, Italy, the United Kingdom and the United States — already have plans to shift away from carbon-rich coal use. But the Biden administration has not declared a coal phase-out date.
