New Custom Low-Radiation Cables for Ultra-Sensitive Physics Experiments
The Science Background radioactivity in everything from dust to the surrounding environment can interfere with ultra-sensitive physics experiments. These cables had 10 to 100 times less of the naturally occurring radioactive isotopes uranium-238 and thorium-232 than commercial cables. This is true even at concentrations of contaminants as tiny as one part-per-billion. Researchers need cables to extract the signals from these detectors.

New Mexico Military Institute Science Bowl
A team of high school students from the New Mexico Military Institute will be in Washington D.C. after they won their regional Science Bowl competition earlier this month. "We were really prepared for the competition, and we expected to do decently well," said Steven Xu, an NMMI student. The competition has been around since 1991.
