Darwin Online - The Largest Darwin Resource in the World
Darwin Online is a 300-page catalogue listing nearly all those long-lost publications. Of the 9,700 links, more than 5,000 are in Darwin Online, including 851 transcribed texts and notes. This theory was laid out in his landmark publication, On The Origin Of Species, published in 1859.

Ibadan International Social Science Conference
No fewer than 250 researchers from across the world are to converge on the University of Ibadan. This was made known in a statement by Professor Ezebunwa Nwokocha. The researchers are to come from the United States of America, South Africa and universities across the country to provide evidence-based solutions.

Elkin1: A New Ion Channel for Touch Perception
Professor Gary Lewin is leading the Molecular Physiology of Somatic Sensation Lab at the Max Delbrück Center. This finding marks only the second ion channel identified as critical to touch perception. Elkin1 appears to be directly involved in converting mechanical stimuli, like a light touch, into electrical signals that travel from the skin to the brain.

Climate Change and Hedgerows in Mid-February
Detailed analysis of almost half a million plant records by scientists in 2022 showed that when all species were considered together the average flowering time in the UK had advanced by a month over the last 40 years. By flowering earlier, plants recognize that winters are becoming shorter and milder, they sense the days getting warmer and alter their spring development in a manner akin to humans feeling warmth on their skin.

What to Expect During the Total Solar Eclipse
The total solar eclipse will pass over Mexico, the United States and Canada on April 8. The event will be visible to millions — including 32 million people in the US alone — who live along the route the moon’s shadow will travel during the eclipse, known as the path of totality. Those along the very center line of the path will see an eclipse that lasts between 312 and 4 minutes.

Africa Needs Improved Agronomy to Increase Rice Production
Africa needs not take up extensive land conversion to increase its rice production. The continent should instead consider improved agronomic practices, such as land development, soil and plant nutrition, weed control and water management. Africa’s rice imports represent about a third of the rice traded on the global market.
