How to Safely View the 2024 Total Solar Eclipse
On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will be visible from the contiguous United States for the first time since 2017, and the next one won’t be visible until 2044. As it moves along its path from southwest Mexico to northeast Canada, the eclipse will cross 15 U.S. states, from Texas to Maine, passing over more cities and densely populated areas than the 2017 eclipse.

ARM Observatories - The World’s Largest Climate Research Facility
The Southern Great Plains atmospheric observatory is the first field measurement site established by the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Atmospheric Radiation Measurement (ARM) user facility. Nine DOE national laboratories collaborate to manage ARM’s work and DOE’s Argonne National Laboratory is responsible for the SGP and third ARM Mobile Facility (AMF3) sites. The SGP is the world’s largest and most extensive climate research facility.

A New Study Reduces Uncertainty in Climate Change Predictions
Climate models predicting 1.3 degrees Celsius warming by the end of the century imply a more relaxed timeline for humanity to reverse climate change. The 2015 Paris Agreement aims to keep future global warming to below 1.5 degrees Celsius to avoid irreversible damage. However, the prediction of 3 degrees of warming by other models suggests much more urgent action is needed.
