Data Analytics Firm’s Role in Defining Medical Payments
Senator Amy Klobuchar asked federal regulators to examine whether algorithms used by MultiPlan have helped major health insurers conspire to cut payments to doctors and leave patients with large bills. She cited a New York Times investigation into MultiPlan’s dominance of the lucrative business of pricing out-of-network medical claims. When patients see a medical provider outside their plan’s network, insurers often send their claims to MultiPlan.

Latin America and Abortion in the United States
Florida joined nearly two dozen other U.S. states that ban abortion or greatly restrict it. These laws came into effect after the Supreme Court’s 2022 decision to overturn Roe v. Wade ended nearly 50 years of the constitutional right to abortion in the United States. The Tampa Bay Times recently reported that about 2 in 5 abortions in Florida over the past six years occurred in the first six weeks of pregnancy.

The study was based on randomized trials set up by researchers. In these trials, 280 participants were divided and were given a task that made them recall negative emotions, such as anger, sadness, or anxiety. After these assessments, the researchers measured the vascular health of the participants.
