The Role of Adult Children of Immigrants in Health Care
Adult children of immigrants make up a disproportionately large share of physicians, surgeons and other health care practitioners in the U.S. The analysis of 2023 Current Population Survey data shows that U. S.-born nonelderly adults whose parents were both born outside the United States comprise 13% of physicians and surgeons. That amounts to more than twice their share of the working age population (6%).

UNICEF IGME Report - Under-5 Mortality Rate Rises to 2.9 Million
Of the 4.9 million under-five deaths in 2022, 2.3 million occurred during the first month of life and 2.6 million children died between the ages of 1 and 59 months. There are also broad disparities in rates of child survival by region, with children under-5 facing the greatest risks in sub-Saharan Africa. Worldwide, children born into the poorest households are twice as likely to die before the age of 5 compared to the wealthiest households.

Can We Stop Waiting For Care?
Ipsos poll shows 42 per cent of Canadians would personally pay to travel to the United States for health care, if necessary. This is a 10 percentage point increase from 2023. It is not clear how “workforce issues” explain why 6.5 million Canadians cannot find a family physician. Leaving aside his woolly thinking, his comments just seem heartless and cruel.
