Somalia's Cholera Epidemic
Nine of those deaths occurred within the past week, humanitarian group Save the Children said. In the southern states of the country, Mogadishu has experienced a significant surge in reported cholera cases in the past two weeks. The outbreak, which began in January of this year, is believed to be a direct consequence of severe flooding in October and November 2023.

Lake County Health Department reported its first case of measles on Saturday. The Health Department says the case was confirmed in a Lake County resident and was determined to be related to the ongoing outbreak in the city of Chicago. Officials say they are working to identify and notify people that may have been exposed.
