Accessible Diagnostic Equipment for People With Mobility Disabilities
I am a radiologist AND a wheelchair user, as the result of a congenital degenerative neuromuscular disease diagnosed later in life. I have a level of expertise not only with the realities of life with a physical disability, but also with the serious consequences if patients do not have access to comprehensive, timely medical care. In my advocacy work, I have met people with disabilities who have never been weighed since reaching adulthood.

Once Upon a Room is a not-for-profit agency that recently launched its first Alabama chapter on the Gulf Coast. They brought in new blankets, pillows, banners, games, posters and toys for patients. The program came to Mobile through a partnership with the Mapp Child and Family Life Program.

Stanford Medicine invested $1.07 billion in donations, funding services and programs to provide health education classes, home health services for seniors and supportive care for cancer patients. Stanford Medicine Children’s Health also invested $250,000 to provide a grocery program, fresh produce, school meals and education to more than 130,000 individuals.
