Colonoscopy Boosts Awareness of Colon Cancer
New cases of colon cancer among older adults have declined over the years. When cancer is detected early, it can often be treated and cured. But many adults who become eligible for routine screening at age 45 don’t get a preventative colonoscopy. By the time someone develops noticeable symptoms of colon or rectal cancer, their disease is already advanced.

The University of Northern Iowa is Educating the Community About Mental Health for Veterans
Iowa has a compared to regional and national data, and Veteran and retired federal employee Terry J. Stewart said he knows 5 people who ended their own lives. About 200 visitors, from veterans to mental health providers, packed the UNI ballroom Wednesday to learn skills and resources so they know how to respond and interact with a veteran experiencing a crisis.

Steward Health Care to Sell to Optum, a subsidiary of UnitedHealth Group
Democratic U.S. Sen. Edward Markey called on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, for greater oversight of a deal that financially embattled hospital operator Steward Health Care has struck to sell its nationwide physician network to Optum. The move comes as Gov. Maura Healey has said state monitors are keeping eye on the nine health care facilities operated by Steward Healthcare in Massachusetts. Before the sale can be completed, the Massachusetts Health Policy Commission must review the proposal.
