Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin began rolling outlandish ideas every April Fool's Day not long after starting their company more than a quarter century ago. One year, Google posted a job opening for a Copernicus research center on the moon. Another year, the company said it planned to roll out a “scratch and sniff” feature on its search engine.

Youth Mental Health First Aid Workshop
The University of Illinois Extension and Sinnissippi Centers will host a Youth Mental Health First Aid Workshop on April 10 at the Whiteside Extension office in Sterling. The workshop is designed to equip adults working with youths with the necessary skills to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders in individuals ages 6 to 18. Participants must complete a two-hour self-paced pre-training course. Details regarding the course will be emailed one week before the live session.

USDA Rural Development Programs Invest $4,780,000
U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development announced that the Agency is investing $4,780,000 in five grants and $23,829,320 in eight loans to projects in Iowa that promote rural small businesses. The 13 investments in 11 projects were made through three different USDA programs. This project will replace aged components and remove accumulated sludge. Once completed, the project will mitigate an imminent health and sanitation hazard.
