Earlier this academic year, four third-year KU School of Medicine-Salina students traveled to Lima, Peru, where they volunteered at Centro Ann Sullivan del Peru. CASP serves a community of people with disabilities such as cerebral palsy, autism, Down syndrome and other developmental delays. The Salina Student Medical Outreach group raised money for the trip.

OSHA cited the company for 70 violations, including nine repeat, 51 serious and 11 other-than-serious violations. The case is in a person in Vermont who is part of an international group program. It’s the state’s first confirmed case of measles since 2018. The Health Department says it was informed on April 10 by the Georgia State Public Health Department that the group had been exposed to a traveler. There’s no treatment but health officials say it’s almost entirely preventable with a vaccine.
