Scientists have discovered a never-before-seen species of "ghost shark's head, giant, iridescent eyes and feathery fins in the depths of the Andaman Sea off the coast of Thailand. Chimaera supapae is a cartilaginous fish in the order of the oldest fishes alive today. These ancient fish are distant relatives of sharks and rays.

In the new study, scientists found that humans shifted their diets in the extremely arid conditions that followed the eruption in the lowlands of Ethiopia. They found the eggs were beyond the range of reliable carbon dating — more than 45,000 years old.
