Nassau County has filed a lawsuit to prevent transgender women and girls from taking part in sports consistent with their gender identity. The lawsuit marks a major escalation in a public battle between the county’s Republican executive, Bruce Blakeman, and the Democratic state attorney general. Blakeman issued a statement threatening legal action against the county over the order.
